Electrical problem
1999 Chevy Silverado V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
when you unhook neg. battery cable it sparks is this normal ???

also changed alt. and gauge shows charging properly
but battery light shows up on massage center..

yes its normal if the connection is removed then reapplyed.

does teh battery light turn on vehicle running and all? or just with key on engine off?

when you trun key the light is on then it goes out but comes back on when you start to drive it..
replaced alt. with new one and parts store said it will be on for 15 - 20 miles but drove it and light still on ??

have you tryed a different battery? a bad one can cause the alternator to put out too much power and it will burn right up.

battery test good with every test that you can do on a battery.. had no problem until needed to replace alt..

could be a bad alternator. try a better brand of one and test the voltage off of it directly see if its putting it out or if its putting out 0 charge.
