1998 Chevy Silverado windshield wipers

my wipers don't always work but the motor is running at the same time even when they don't work...sometimes when the switch is in the off position the wiper motor is running also.when the wipers do work they can suddenly stop on winshield then sometimes start moving again.what does this sound like to you? any help would be appreciated

your wiper module is bad lightly tap on the wiper motor module when the key is on and if you can get it to change in any activity replace the module, good luck!!
