1996 Chevy Silverado

I have a 96 gmc 1500 the man that I got it from said that if you fun it out of gas it is hard to start and makes a cluncking sound like it has a broking flywheel you have to chock it and hold the gas to the floor and then after you do it for a couple mins it will start and it only makes the noise when you snap the throttle if you rev it up it does not do it only when you snap the throttle after it runs for about 5 mins it does not do it any more

Sounds to me like it has a lower end knocking noise you are describing but there is no way to tell without hearing the noise

Well to be honest I have never ever heard of that type or problem before but I would think that when its low on fuel there must be weak spot on the fuel pump assembly causing possible air into fuel system. Most likely replacing the fuel pump module would correct it. Also clean out inside of tank
