I have just replaced the starter. Now the starter will engage but is not hitting the flywheel. It sound like when you start a running engine when you turn the key. I sure do not want to take the new starter out again. Can I loosen the bolts and try repostioing?

You will have to reposition the starter, because you don't have the teeth on the starter lined up with the teeth on the fly wheel. If you keep trying to start it like it is, you will tear up your new starter. You can try loosing the bolts, but I think you will have to remove them and start over. Make sure the starter is completely in place, or you will have more trouble.
