what is the proper procedure for replacing the four front end boots on the drive axles?

first question is, are you putting on OEM boots for the cv's or are you trying to put on the nice split boots, recommended for ease by me :D?

probably cheaper to install new axles. to replace the boots you need a fancy tool called a swage clamp, only on this vehicle. i think a new axle costs about 50- 80 dollars depending where you live

it saves some time, and its good to replace them, they are 75 bucks around where i live.
lots of people go with that, but i also offer to throw on split boots which your looking 10 bucks per and saves a bit of time.

i have never seen a split boot before, how does it work? does it wrap around and glue together? they are a pain in the butt to replace and if the boots are easy to replace then thats the way to go because the cv joints themselves are pretty much bullet proof.

they wrap around and clamp, glue, or bolt, i dont see any difference in performance from a regular cv boot or split boots.
if your boot is split, and has been exposed for a while, id go with a new shaft as tim suggests. but if money is tight, go with the split replacement boot.
