1989 Chevy Silverado V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My oil pressure gauge stopped working. Is it the sending unit that quit? Can I fix it myself and how?

Check if its disconnected if not check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge if normal replace the oil pressure switch abnormal could be oil pump and engine bearings
