1989 Chevy Silverado V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

when i go to engage 4wd the shaft will lock in but lights on display do not light up (bulb is good though have checked) and tires will not spin. fuses are good too.

basically 4x4 works just fine just no indication on the dash?

is it pushbutton or is it floor shift for 4x4?
