1982 Chevy Silverado Heater not working on defrost

1982 Chevy Silverado V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual

I put a new thermostate in the truck and now have a heater. It blow hot heat out of the floor vents but will not switch to the defroster on the top cant figure out why it wont switch kinda hard to see like that.

Blend door fault look under dash see small can looking thing with rod attached that changes air flow.
