1975 Chevy Silverado V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

when i put the transmission in gear and accelerate the engine surges,then when i let off the accelerator it will not decelerate.

Hi,
Right off hand it sounds like a weak or missing return spring. Could also be a transmission kick down cable binding up.

Is this carb a stock QuadraJet?

yes this is a quadrajet. the problem is not with the return spring or the kickdown cable.have you got any other ideas as to what the problem might be.
