Service engine soon lights

I have a 1999 s10 2.2L with 51000 chevy.
The last time I drove it the service engine soon lite was flashing and it was miss-fireing. II stopped for about 2 hours when I started up again the service engine soon lite was on solid. The gas cap is secure. Could a clogged fuel filter be causing this or should I have it checked out by a machanic?

The light reports hundreds of codes, that can be for any of the systems in the truck.

If you are a DIYouselfer, look for a SAM unit around your neighborhood. We have one down the street at the kwik Kar place. For $15 this will measure and report everything.

Most mechanics won't give you all if the codes and diag. Because that's not what the do. They fix things that break.
