I have a 1998 Chevy s10 that I am replacing the rear main seal. It is a 2.2l engine. I can't seem to get the seal all the way in without fear of damaging the seal. It will not pop in like the manual says. I can't seem to find the "tool" it says is needed and a blunt tool will not push it in. Any ideas?

I have added a picture of the installer. I have done these but can't say that I have done them without the tool. The tool is ment to hold sealing surface of the seal out while you turn the handle and it pushs the seal into place. I would make some phone calls and see if anyone would rent you or loan you the tool. That is one of those jobs that you don't want to have to go back and do it again if the seal gets damaged when you installed it....

Hope this helps... Cly
