What to check next

Diagnostic guidance. Suggested checks and possible repairs are separate from the owner's reported results.

Treat the starting complaint and remaining rough idle separately. If no-crank returns, have the starter command and loaded supply circuits tested; have the rough idle diagnosed from current findings.

Discussion summary

89 s10 will not start

A 1989 S-10 2.5 would click without cranking but could be push-started, despite recent battery, alternator and starter replacements. The owner later attributed the problem to the starter and oxygen sensor, then reported a remaining rough idle.

Reported outcome: The owner reported the starting problem resolved, but rough idle remained without reported codes.

The update does not show how either part was tested. It does not establish an oxygen sensor as the cause of no-crank. The screwdriver bypass attempt is not a recommended procedure.
