My truck was sitting for a few days after we returned from a long road trip. When I turned it on it started to make a squealling sound but went away. I then put the vehicle in drive and started to push on the gas and the sound started to come back. It sounds as if it is coming from the compressor but when I turn the A/C on there is not difference. I put some WD-40 on it to see if it would help but nothing changed. If the compressor bearing is starting to sieze will it be an easy enough task to replace just the bearing or better to replace the entire compressor? Also could it be anything else that would make the squealling sound?

If the AC is working then a new hub assembly. Take belt off see if squeal goes away. Turn AC hub by hand any play seem rough etc.? Then you know to replace. Also the belt maybe the noise maker.
