2003 Chevy S-10 Check engine light

The check engine light seems to always stay on after i take the vehicle for an oil change. Does something need to be reset? I heard that if the technician does not do it after the oil change, this is the result.

go to a local auto part store and ask them to scan then erase trouble codes from you vehicle.
