does engine need to be removed to replace timing chain

no the best thing to do is to loosend the oil pan all around, and looser int eh front so you can pull the chain cover off. then replace the timing chain and make sure to put rtv in the corners of the timing chain cover and replace gaskets before reinstalling it.
