I ran out of gas while the car was running for 10 minutes. Put 4 gallons in it but it wouldn't start. It acts like it wants to start. I can hear the pump running in the gas opening. Could the sedament clog up the fuel filter and not start?

I'd start by using a fuel pressure gage and go from there. You might be able to borrow a gage, if you don't have one.
