Computer problem
2002 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 130kms miles

Abs lite came on approx. 1.5 yrs ago, tech told me it was a computer control cover /plate date for models pre 2000, it had 98 written in black marker on it the cover.
Q: what would be the proper term or name of this part ?
Q:have you heard of this before?

That would be the ABS control module.
You need to have it scanned and find out what the code(s) really are. It could be the module or it could be a failed sensor or bad connection. Hard to say without the actual codes that cause the light.
