2001 S-10 4.3L Ext Cab 115,000Kms. Started with a slight vibration around 1000Kms ago and was intermittent until recently when it started squeaking like bad bed springs and the vibration is now constant, sometimes instead of the squeaking I hear a sharp tapping coming from the rear. I had thought that this was a universal joint but I had checked them and they all seem tight, could it be possible that this could be the differential? It has the Limited Slip Differential RPO Code G80.

Vibration and speed sensitve squeeking is usually U-Joint related...what happens if you get up to 35-40 mph, then shift to neutral?

At 35-40 mph when I put it in neautral the vibration is still there, as far as the sqeauking/chirping it seems to disapte at higher speeds. When parked going from reverse to drive and vice versa I don't hear any distinctive clinks or any thing.
