2001 Chevy S-10 no power to fuel pump

Fuel pump is not getting power. New relay switch, fuses all checked out, new pump, it's grounded. Direct power to pump, truck starts. Disconnect direct power, it dies. What other options are there?

gray wire from relay to fuel pump is broken. no power to fuel pump relay? no ground command at fuel pump relay?
