2001 Chevy S-10 lost power

I was driving and my battery light came on then I lost power. I replaced the battery and cleaned off the cables but I still have no power. What next?

is your battery light still on. if it is unplug the connector (with the brown wire at the alternator) if the light goes off, it is your alternator.
according to the chilton manual
