my back brake light's wont go off but the 3 brake light is not on . I tride to chang the brake light switch it did not work the brake pedal is not all the way up . when the truck sit a long time the light go off

What happens if you push the button on the switch with your finger? And how far down is the pedal? can you pull it up with your habd?
