2000 Chevy S-10 truck is missing and wont run right

when driving truck out the driveway its up a hill and got to feather the gas to make it go and when going down road and get the rpms up above 3.5 4 the motor starts cutting out and wont pick up no speed

is engine light coming on? if so need to retrieve trouble code(s) stored to help pinpoint the culprit
