Truck stalls while driving

My 2000 S10 recently started dying out while I am driving it, but turned over every time that I would try to start it again, the problem kept getting worse until it just wouldnt start unless you let it sit for a few hours even then it wouldnt go more than 100 yards before dying again. I took it to a mechanic and had the fuel filter, fuel pump and battery replaced. It worked fine for about a week and then started up again, doing the exact same thing. I've taken it back to them but they can't figure out what it is. They said it could be a computer chip but they couldnt find anything when they put it on a computer. Please help im running out of options.

When they hooked up the scan tool do you know if there was any codes. Does it stumble when it dies or does it die right away

While driving, the engine just shut off. No sputtering or anything, it just turned off, and the lights and radio and everything stayed on.

The engine will crank, but will not fire up. If I spray starter fluid into the intake it will start for a second and die again.

I have changed the fuel filter and the fuel pump relay. I checked the fuel pump fuse and it's good. The power and ground wires for the fuel pump look good.

Is it time to change the fuel pump?

Before replacing the pump, I recommend checking fuel pump pressure. It sounds like that is the problem, but it is a lot of work and the pump isn't cheap. Make sure to check it first. There could be a problem with the injectors and not the pump. Regardless, you need to first make sure the pump is producing pressure within the manufacturer's specs.

I was going to work and I was at a stop light. While I was waiting for the light I decided to fix my rear view mirror so I did a quick fix with mounting tape and plugged the electrical part for the map lights and the truck shut off. It didn't start at all and had it towed home. What can it be?

It sound like it can be one of two things, either the crankshaft angle sensor has gone out which will make the engine have not spark or injector pulse or the fuel pump has gone out, here are some guides that will help you figure out what is going on.

Most of that, what u did find out is that a fuse of crankshaft was broken so I replaced it but it still didn't start. I would think it would be an electrical problem seeing as when I plugged in the rear view mirror lighting the truck shut off, also I noticed that after the truck shut off I unplugged the rear view mirror and when I plug it in it's on and won't go off even when I turn of dome lights and close the door

Yes this does sounds like a BCM problem that will need to be replaced or the wiring damage found and repaired. Here is the wiring diagram for the BCM so you can starting looking around. It does look like there is a heated mirror relay that is tied into the engine ignition fuse. Try removing the relay to see if that helps.

I found out that it was the "ecm b" fuse. So I replaced and it and it started right up but as soon as I accelerated, the fuse blew. So I asssume there is a short somewhere. I put a higher amp fuse to move it back into a parking. Do u think it will run with that higher amp fuse or should I just look for the short?

Used it the other day, ran good, tried it today, it started but rocked and jumped went like that for a minut
tried to start again, just kept cranking, didn, t even try to start. Had this problem before, the plug in for the fuel
pump burnt, only one pin, the one that makes it pump, so I pulled the wire off and hooked it in the front
worked good like that for 7 months untill today.I unpluged that one pin, pushed it back on and it ran for like
10 seconds, sounded good, unplug it again and ran for 10 secounds again.I pored alittle gas in the motor
it started up ran a few secounds, would you say it, s most likely the fuel pump?
Fuel pump was 2 years old. Thanks

Good find on the fuse, I would look for a short. Start the truck up and let it idle. Then start moving the wiring harness around it see if the truck stalls, this will give you an idea where the short is.

the pump run, and like I said

and die, I don, t have a fuel
pump tester, but I did push the

Depressing the schrader valve don't mean nothing we need to know if the fuel pressure is within the specs-This is where we should start the diagnosis-The pressure should be 60-66psi

Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Chevy S-10 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 2000 Chevy s-10 2.2l non flex fuel automatic trans. It starts and runs for approximatley a second then dies. It is not losing spark. I replaced the fuel pump less than a year ago, and have jumped across the fuel relay to keep the pump running. If I spray fuel into the intake as it starts it will start and continue to run until I stop spraying fuel. If I dont spray fuel into the intake, it will start, and then die almost immediately. Please help.

Check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter and fuel pump if okay test the fuel pump and oil pressure sending unit

Ok, pressure was 40 lbs, I put a new pump in and it will start
and run for like 5 seconds and then run rough for a couple seconds.
I have no clue whats going on. Fuel filter was changed a year ago

Do you think the security system is causing a problem? Passlock is an injector disable, may start then die. When the vehicle dies, if the security lite is on, leave the key on, the lite may go off in about ten minutes. Turn the key off for 5 seconds. Do the sequence twice more, about thirty minutes. That is a relearn procedure, maybe it will start, then.

My truck would not start with low fuel in the tank. I never had a problem if I kept more than 5 gallons in the tank, then I let it get low once and couldn't get the engine started. I put gas in the air intake and ended up damaging the line. I replaced the air line and resonator that were damaged. I then replaced the plugs and fuel filter, because I thought that the fuel filter was dirty (I think it was 100,000 miles old) and the plugs were about 40K old. After replacing the filter the truck started right up and I have had no starting problems (although there is 1/2 tank of gas). I drove home from the garage and the truck seemed fine. However, now when I am driving the engine will often hesitate and stall. If I rev the engine in neutral it seems normal. When this started it would stall if I went to accellerate at high speed (60+ MPH) now it will hesitate at lower speeds and stall what seems randomly. Occasionaly when the truck stalls I can not get it to start without pulling over and putting it in park, removing key and then cranking. I thought maybe the gas has gone bad and put 5 gallons of premium in with the 5 gallons that were in the tank(I usually run 87 octane as recommened), now it still hesitates and may stall but it is much harder to actually get the truck to stall.
