2000 Chevy S-10 SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT

IS it possible to turn off this light. I forgot to close
the gas cap and then the light came on.

OR do I have to go and have someone do it for me?

Unfortunately you will have to have the code read via scanner. An auto part sstore will read the code, but they aren't supposed toturn it off. But they could let you do it maybe. Or it could be something different all together.
