my wifes truck has the inside edge of the front passenger tire worn .. it happened quickly and when she makes a sharp turn it will sometime make a pop or clunk.

Sound's like your alignment is off and that you have some worn out parts in the front end.Have your front end checked for excessive wear and play in your ball joint's tie rod's etc.
