2000 Chevy S-10 Dome light problem

The dome light in my s-10 won't go on when I open the doors. I've pushed the dome override button in and left it out. When I leave it out, the light stays on and doesn't go out when I close the doors. Any suggestions?

start by checking all fuses if they all are fine trace wires frmo light for open or short circuits
