Engine Performance problem
2000 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 100K miles

I have a 2000 Chevy S-10 4x4 V6 automatic. My problem with it is that it runs great when it's warm outside but once it gets colder it starts missing until the engine gets warm. It always starts fine and runs but runs real rough. If you really step on the gas, it runs fine, but just gradually letting it accelerate it runs rough. Missing. I've taken it to the GM garage and they cleaned the injectors and that fixed it for a few days. Then it started doing it again. In the summer and fall it runs FINE.

What could be my problem?

If your check engine light is not on, I would run a can of SeaFoam through it.

Also purchase gas from a station that refills tanks weekly.

Here is what I just found with my 4.3 engine which may be your problem.

I bought the truck in October with 62,000 miles, it was not until the real cold weather set in when this same problem you have surfaced. Not as bad as what you describe but similar.

My Thermostat was hanging open which made the engine run rough, my gas mileage went down and the in cab heat was marginal.

Once I changed the thermostat, the truck ran great, smooth, started better, the gas mileage went up and the cab, defroster, worked as it should.

Look at your temp gauge if it only goes 1/4 of the way up and does not get almost to the 12 o-clock position have it changed.
