what other altanators from different makes wiil work on my S-10. And will a 4.3 altenator work on my truck friend has one for free that is why im asking any inforatinon will be helpfull. Thanks.

What model year is your friends vehicle? You could compare the two alternators side by side, look at the clocking and electrical connector, see if they are the same?

Some of the online automotive parts places will give a listing of the different model years for your alternator. Rockauto, to mention one, There probably others. You can call your local auto supply, they will give you a listing of different years and models your alternator will fit.
