I have a 1998 Chevy S-10 with broken tailgate support cables. I have the cables but there seems to be no way to replace only the cables. How do I get the old cables out of the latch and how do I install the new cables?

the cables have a little metal tab that has to be bent up so the cable can slide up to the bigger hole to pull out.

the next part should just simply unbolt and pull off of the tailgate.

installation is reverse.
