1998 Chevy S-10 SEALING THE TIMING CHAIN COVER

My friend replaced my timing chain, and now it is leaking oil around the timing chain cover. The gasket sealer he used did not seem to hold. Can we put a sealer on the outer edges of it to keep it from leaking with-out taking it apart and redoing it ?

you can try puting RTV on the outside but more often than not you'll have to pull it off and fix it correctly....
