The truck is a '97 S-10 SS. The A/C is either an aftermarket or dealer installed. Didn't work for several years for previous owner. I replaced a relay and worked fine for over a year. Hose came loose last fall allowing R134A to escape. Replaced relay again and recharged. Gauge shows pressure in proper zone. Compressor ran for about a day, but air wasn't very cool. Now the compressor won't kick on. Is the compressor shot?

I would double check the freon level. Try jumping the low pressure cut off switch and see if the compressor comes on, if it does then its low on freon and there might be another leak

I wired the compressor directly to the battery and it kicks on. That bypasses the relay I replaced. When the compressor ran for the one day, I added refrigerant and the pressure went up to the lower side of the "good" zone and would not take any more freon. I wonder if there could be a blockage somewhere, and if so, how could I ind that?
