I have irebuilt my air conditioner and the unit has new compressor, new compressor manifold, new dryer and new expansion valve. The condenser and evap. Has been flushed out with cleaner then blown out with air.I was told by the parts man to put 4 oz. Oil(pag)in compressor, 3 oz. In dryer and 1 oz. In condenser. Is this the correct total amount of oil? And is 4 oz in the compressor the right amount.

Provided your system is clean that is the perfect amount of oil to add (pag). Make sure you turn your compressor over by hand when adding the oil to prevent lock up and get the oil flowing through it. When first starting the system its also recommended to turn system on and off several times to burnish the clutch to the compressor. Its a pretty fool proof system, I have seen steps missed or not done properly but it seems like your dotting your i's and crossing your t's. Thanks for using 2 carpros

One more thing about the compressor oil, I was told by a online mechanic that it was ok to put the 4 oz. Oil in the compressor by unscrewing the plug on the body and adding it there in stead of thru the suction port. Would that be ok? Thanks---Bill
