Engine was running good, and all of sudden it begin to miss real bad and bad noise which sound like lifters.I took covers off and about 50% of rocker arms was loose, but nuts where tight, qil pressure was good and oiling. I took intake off and have about 9 collaped lifters. What could cause a problem like this. Thanks Robert n.C.

Did you lose oil pressure? First thing is loss of oil pressure but if thats was ok then replace the lifters, I just had one yesterday that was a 2000 blazer with a intake manifold leak (coolant internally) and the lifters were collapsed on most of them and it was clattering so I installed new lifters when I replaced the intake gasket and that took care of the problem, I dont know if the intake gasket had anything to do with it but thats the second time I have had to replace lifters in a gm engine for making noise and in both cases thats all it was. Hope this helps. They have made a new updated intake manifold gasket for this engine to do away with the plastic factory ones, felpro has a set make of metal and hard rubber, I strongly suggest using them.
