1994 Chevy S-10 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a 1994 chevy s10 we replaced the starter and than dropped it and had to replace the silonid after thati took it for a ride when i came back my battery positive side had melted and the wires to the started had melted as well. please help .... thanks karen

It is grounding out somewhere. Be sure the pos cable isnt touching anything, might have a problem with solenoid.
