my truck has been stalling and not running right. I noticed today that my carb is black and my air filter smells like gasoline. I also had a problem a couple weeks back when some birds got up underneath truck and into engine area. Don't know if this is related? Could they have loosened something? Any ideas for me?

Its burning rich-okay pull the oil dipstick and smell for gas if so -check for a leaking fuel pressure regulator- and injector/s . Also for excessive fuel pressure. When you find the problem change oil and filter.
