The pin on the b-pillar has fallen out. So the door has nothing to keep it closed now. I am assuming the nut is now at the bottom of the b-pillar. The hole is big enough for the post/pin to go in but how the hell do I retrieve and re-install the nut? To be clear.I am talking about the bolt that is attached to the truck body that the door latches to when it is closed. Not anything on the truck door itself! Thank you for any help!

Get a magnet and a piece of string and try fishing it out. Be patient, Or use a magnetic telescoping pickup tool. It may be a striaght shot to it! A strong enough magnet on the outside can drag it back to the hole.

How the hell do I screw the post back in with no way to hold the nut? Can I just say f*** it and weld the post straight to the b-pillar and cut my losses?

No when you either fish it out, or buy a new one, and I think autozone may have them on thier help board, the washer behind the nut is attached to it, and goes in and turns, then keep grasping the nut and start the threads. Then tighten away! BTW, how did it get so loose as to fall off? Must have had some difficulty closing the door? Or heard some rattles?

Just bought the truck for $550. Have been doing body work getting rid of all the rust. This was my second time driving the truck. It is a 91 s-10. It has lots of noises and rattles. Hard to isolate any noise from a door latch. It is just my little beater truck.
