91' , S10, 2 wheel drive with the 4.3.

when ever i accelerate hard, or pop the clutch a ticking or pining sound occurs. It seems to come from the differential or another area from the rear.

Hi there,

Best start with checking the diff oil level, check the unis for wear. If driving and the noise is constant it may be a wheel bearing, if you can get it to change pitch with throttle, it well could be the diff.
