1989 Chevy S-10 4 cyl Manual

I bought a fuel filter and my manual says its along the frame but I cant find it. Is it possible to be somewhere else or maybe even not have one?

Some of my info says the filter is located under the hood on the driver side, follow the fuel line.

Depending on if it is a line filter or an "in tank" filter most line filters are located along the inner frame rail of the driver's side just under the driver's door. If it is an "in tank" filter. It's in the fuel tank.
