1987 Chevy S-10 How to set timing

I am confused on how to install the timing chain with the marks pointing correctly. I had already removed the heads in order to have a valve job, and checked the timing chain and noticed it had jumped timing. Chain was real loose.

Anyway, I installed the chain with the marks facing each other, and the No. 1 cylinder at TDC. Did I do this right?

Yes, the two marks should be facing each other, you got it right
