1986 Chevy S-10 Vehicle speed sensor

when i accelerate it feels like my front wheels are rubbing the wheel well and sometimes the truck skips it feels like a gear is slipping but im not sure, the check engine light flashed but is now off, so i took it to autozone to test it and the engine code said that there is a problem with the VSS

The speed sensor runs the speedo, detemins speeds for shifting... Based on your description, I would start by replacing it.
