I had my ignition switch and linkage replaced a month ago and since then my volt gauge has been reading high(16-17 volts) I think it used to read around 13 volts before the switch was replaced. The battery is also new and alternator is supposedly in fine shape.

Better check the voltage regulator its not controlling the alternator current output and the wiring that goes back to the ignition switch.
