My 64 checvy, with 350 V8 runs great, until you step on it. With aggressive acceleration the car sputters, backfires and stalls. It sounds like it is sucking air, it will not restart while rolling. However, put in the clutch and turn on the ignition it starts right up.

We have replaced the carb, fuel pump, alternator, distributer, coil with no change.

One mechanic suggested an electronic igntion system.

Any ideas, ever seen this before?
