Air Conditioning problem
2002 Chevy Prizm 4 cyl Manual 80000 miles

My AC stopped working about two weeks ago (the compressor was not coming on ) , but after a few minutes, I tried it again and it worked.

It stopped again yesterday morning, but worked later that afternoon. I could hear the compreressor making noise when I turned it on. Does this sound like the compressor is shot? I replaced it about 5 years ago.

Thanks for any feedback.

Either the compressor or the compressor clutch.

The Prizm is mechanically identical to the Toyota Corolla, and it is unusual for a Toyota compressor to go bad twice. I have seen these compressors last 25 years +.

If you have to replace, use a remufactured Denso unit.
