In trying to help out a friend replace her alternator I have stumbled upon a problem right out the gate. The top mounting bolt came off fine with a 13mm socket. The bottom mounting bolt is very stubborn and no socket seems to quite fit correctly. Before it rounds off too bad I ask if you have any suggestions to get it off. Room or lack there of is a factor as well. Thank you in advance for your help.

Use a 6 point socket (not 12 point), it is a 14mm if memory serves.

Spray nut with a penetrant like "PB Blaster" and let it sit overnight.

If necessary, raise car, remove passengers side wheel and plastic shields and access from below.

ALWAYS disconnect the negative battery cable before beginning. Their is a wire to tha alt. That is hot all the time with battery connected, and can cause a lot of damage if it comes in contact with body or engine.
