Windshield Wiper Linkage problem

I have a 97 Camaro 130k miles that was having a common problem of windshield wipers not "parking" when the control lever was turned off. I replaced the wiper motor with a "used" one that was purchased online. The park problem was cured. However, the driver's side linkage will not stay attached to the ball on the wiper motor. The cup at the end of the linkage pops off from the ball on the motor when it revolves. Is this a dry fitting or does it need grease? Any ideas? New linkage is around $100.00 for both sides and I would rather not spend that much. However, the cups are not available separately.

Well, seeing as it is a used unit could it be possible that the problem is with the ball attachment and not the linkage rod? Maybe that the ball is worn down and isn't as snug as it should be. Is it possible to squeeze the cup a little tighter? Or maybe "paint" or coat the ball with some J-B weld to make it fit tighter? I think you can see what way I'm looking at this. Might just be a cheap and easy fix if you can make something along this line of thinking work. Don't know if ball is change-able or not. Maybe call dealers service dept. And talk to a tech and see where you can go from there. Hope this gives you something to work with and can save you some bucks that your Camaro would like to feel somewhere else
