My 99 Chevy lumina (3.3 Engine, have 72000 miles) got red light on, I replace a new battery according to nice persons suggestion, however, it is still on. Is that means the altenator was broken and need to be changed? how much it cost?
I appreciate more suggestion

Thanks a lot

What I had said was:"The alternater is probably on the fringe, the defroster puts it over the edge. HAve the charging system checked. If the battery is 5 years old or more replace it."

The charging system still needs to be checked. It is probably an alternater, but may not be. The battery replacement suggestion is based on batteries lasting 5 years on average. Sorry for any confusion.
