My choke light stays on all the time and the truck diesels when you shut it off. 1983 silverado 4x4 just barely 100 miles on a jasper replacment engine. i have replaced the choke thermostat and this did not change anything. I am being given the runaround by the guys that just repalced the motor so I am trying to handle it myself.

You need to adjust your fast idle cam-the reason you're dieseling is because the throttle plate is not fully closed creating your Run-on. Some thing is holding the plate open investigate thoroughly. and also recheck the ignition timing.

It didn't start doing this till the choke light came on and now it will not go off. I checked the voltage going to the choke thermostat( I was told it probably didn't have any power. It has DC voltage with the switch on and with the truck running.
