Chevy Ignition switch

1991 Chevy Z71: The ignition wont even turn anymore, it is permanently locked, so I went and bought another one to replace it but I need to know how to take the original out and insert the new one.

I am no expert but I just had the same problem with my swich in my chev. in order to replace the ignition swich the entire stearing collom has to be disasembled the air bag and horn has to be taken out as well as the stearing wheel has to be removed. there is no way to remove the swich from the outside. I paid a pro. to replace mine and I got to watch it was quite a job the cost? $375.00 Good luck!

Personally I would spend 15.00 on a repair guide and it will tell you exactly step by step how to do the repair. You could use the 375.00 for something else.
