Transmission problem

I have 1999 chey truck 3500 4/4 runs good except does not engage in reverse gear and parking dont work what could be problem

the shift rod for going into park could have fallen off inside the trans for Park. For reverse put the tasnmission in 1 and see what happens. There is a good posssiblility that the seals or clutch pack in low/reverse is shot.
