Hello

To better assist, please be specific on your vehicle model and be exact. Also your engine size in liter and the 8th digit of your VIN.

Hello

Thanks for the info

First, do you know how to pull codes on the car?

Next, you turn the key and it continues to try to crank but never actually starts

When you say you tried the spark plug test: you did pull a plug wire off of the spark plug and insert something into the end of it and have someone try to start the car and have the metal object really close to a piece of metal on the engine and see if you are getting a good strong popping blue spark. So do you have a good blue spark on all plugs?

Please let me know what you find and if you are not sure how to pull the codes, let me know and I will tell you.

Hello

Okay if you got good spark, then spray starting fluid in the throttle body and try to start again and let me know.

Hello swacky

Thanks for getting back with me

Yes, I understand that is the first thing you did but I need to know the results of when you do that. Such as, the car sputtered, tried to start, engine just rotated and no difference

Those things are clues that I need

If you are getting a good spark from all the plugs not just one then we know the electrical as far as the spark is concerned is okay

If you spray starting fluid in it and it sputters it may be the fuel pump is not working. What is your fuel pressure?

If we are getting a good spark on everything, if we have good fuel pressure, then the next thing to check is the compression. Do you have good compression on all the cylinders

But that is what we need to figure out

Also, are you sure about your model and engine size of car? I show the Lumina either has the 4cyl, 2.5L, or the 6 cylinder 3.1L VIN T, or 3.4L VIN X.

Now based off of the 8th digit of the VIN you gave me, L, you have a 3.1L. Is this what you have?

Hello

Sorry so long to get back with you having some computer problems major ones, so please bear with me as I limp along here.

Okay great info. You need to do a fuel pressure check 190K on the car it is probably the fuel pump. So check the pressure.

If it is bad I would also change the relay, filter and make sure you change the sock on the pump.
